It began with a conversation…

SŌMI Gallery

(South of Michigan Avenue)

From conversation to collaboration: Three artists, each with their own distinctive style and techniques, have created a contemporary art experience in downtown Sturgeon Bay’s Steel Bridge Creative District.

Now in its fourth year, SŌMI Gallery is located in the historic Stroh Block Building at 45 South 3rd Avenue. Built in 1904, the Stroh’s 14-ft ceiling and wall of windows provide the perfect showcase for the oil & cold wax paintings of Karen Hertz-Sumnicht, the glass of Jeremy Popelka and oil paintings and glass of Stephanie Trenchard. Whether on canvas or in glass, the trio’s artistic expressions are colorful, vibrant and joyous.

The Third Room

The Third Room is a space within SŌMI Gallery reserved for special projects, residencies, and shorter-term exhibits of some of Door County’s best-known as well as emerging artists. Click on “Art” to see more!
